The real crisis.

drop the knife

I really didn’t want to touch on such a topic, but this really needs to be addressed sooner rather than later so if you didn’t know the last few weeks there has been a continuous amount of stabbings, sexual assaults, unprovoked attacks and so much more in the streets of London than any other place in the UK, don’t get me wrong I have noticed other places but London will be my top focus for now.

I know no matter how much I write or physically talk in this situation it won’t change but maybe it will give you and others around you an insight to think about the sickening acts that are taking place upon our streets every single day it needs to be stopped.

In the newspapers or on social media for the last 4 weeks it’s actually reached its peak, families being torn apart, teenagers dying, children as young as five carrying weapons, I’m hearing more and more ‘wrong place, wrong time’

It’s easy for me to type ‘It needs to be stopped’ but this fiasco that is taking place in this city needs to be addressed properly and through, but really how much more can be done? We’ve upped our police force, checks are done in areas on a daily, weapon bins are in place, the public are even doing marches around these attacks.

A recent March was held which started from Hackney and ended in Islington the demonstrators was calling for an end to the knife and gun crime, but unfortunately, a few hours after there was another murder where a 17-year-old died. FIFTEEN murders later will these cold blooded murders stop? In my opinion of course not, fifteen murders later and these people with knives known as ‘shanks’ stuffed in their leg, down trousers in their side bag will always carry these weapons, I know people that carry myself, people that live in my area and many people that I know live in London, my question always is “WHY?” and the same response I get is “I’m protecting myself” but protecting yourself from who? So you’re protecting yourself by carrying yourself what if when your waltzing about somewhere and you see an enemy known as an ‘Opp’ you both lay eyes on each other both go for the attack and the other person pulls out first, the last thought that will go through someone’s head will be “oh fuck I’m dead now” damn right you’ll be dead or suffering serious injuries in A & E.

Once upon a time in my thoughts I wanted to have a family but now I don’t want it, in this world no thank you, staying alive for some people is a constant battle, actually for anyone it’s a struggle, you could be a normal person go to work, come home, minding your own business, don’t really get involved with people, next day you’re on your way to work get caught up in the middle of some gang drama someone chases you down ends up murdering you in broad daylight and your life is finished, then it will be another case of “wrong place wrong time”. First of all what the fuck is ‘wrong place wrong time’ how can you be in the wrong place especially when you’re actually meant to be there, what’s wrong with right place right time, it’s not your business if people want to rubbish in the places you end up.

One thing I just find berserk is weapon bins, it’s really a 50/50 situation some people will find a weapon and dispose of it but how the other half live that weapon ain’t going in the bin, it will end up in someone else’s chest, leg, heart, through their shoulders, okay you get my point it will end up everywhere where it ain’t meant to be. I really thought knives were for chopping vegetables or cutting up meat the same knives I see in my kitchen are the same knives I see on road, actually, I’ve seen some crazy weapons them zombie knives where I’ll expect to see in a video game are actually real. Don’t get it twisted these bins have done justice in just under a year over 3,700 weapon sweeps have been conducted, over 800 weapons have been recovered, hundreds of shops including off licenses have been visited with trading standards to see if they’ve been selling weapons to underage people luckily enough over 1500 people were arrested including 243 for possessing a knife or an offensive weapon.

The number one problem we face is gang culture, not just in London but everywhere, people tend to go around in groups not all groups are gang related but a lot of them are.

The music scene has a huge influence on what is going on, I know people rap about where they’ve come from, how they’ve grown up etc…that’s fair enough but some rap I’ve heard they bring names into it, family members, postcode wars is a thing now and always will be, there are certain parts in London I won’t go to alone, not because I’m scared but because how I grew up knowing the area it’s the complete opposite. I’ve been in so many group chats over the past two years and some people wouldn’t even join because there was an ‘Opp’ in the chat, I’ve seen so many arguments go on people will give all the talk in the world but when it’s time to fight no one would be on it.

Over time I’ve listened to music where I’ve found certain messages dug so deep within them, so I’ll list a few that I listen too hopefully you can find the true meanings of these songs.

Kannan – Grime
TE Dness – Behind bars
Villa – Tryna make it
Teks Sinatra – Letter to my unborn
Trapz – Nothing ain’t sweet
Showkey – Letter to M- Dot
Case – These days
Malachi – 8th November
Kojo Funds – My 9ine
Kano- Imagine
Dolo Brassi ft Gully – Round here

I’m a real music fan I mostly listen to drill, bashment, r&b, trap, and grime, but drill and grime are my scene for sure, more time I’ll be spitting all these bars from the songs and I’ll rap them for days on end, but after a while I really do start to deep the lyrics and most of the times I really think “shit den” because at that moment I realise what the hell I’m saying and what these people are actually talking about for example the other day I was listening to Lil uzi’s song “push me to the edge, all my friends are dead” I was proper jumping about singing it all and I really paused because it’s such a sad song most of these artists must be generally depressed to be saying lyrics like these, because deep it people are dying every day I remember a year ago there was some argument on one of my group chats and someone said ” People are dying everyday b, I’ve seen some of my boys die in front of me” Honestly that one line killed me because I’ve said it like 20 billion times already but I’ll say it again it’s a cold world, I really think “It is what it is”. The younger generation love to beef including me, not to the extent where I’ll go out of my way to end someone’s life because I always think these people have families at the end of the day, I wouldn’t want to kill someone and then I’ll be seeing the same four walls for the rest of my life that’s defiantly not my dream in life, I see parents cry nearly every day on the news because their little girl or boy has died from another vicious attack and has died, you people need to think of the bigger picture, go in and out of prison looks very boring.

The sentences I see some of these murderers get are ridiculously short, in the UK they say you’ll get ‘life’ life to our courts are just ridiculous banter so if you murder someone it will start from 15 years onwards, how can someone take a life from an innocent person and not get locked away themselves for life, the only reason I agree with America and their life sentences, is because they mean what they say, in these American prisons you’ll see the same 4 walls for the rest of your eternity, don’t get me wrong I know a lot of people are falsely accused of what they’ve done and they end up spending time inside ‘reflecting’ on something they haven’t done that’s cold, and then they start ‘reminiscing’ on what life used to be like but I’ve really learnt it is what it is. If you’re reading this don’t come back to me and say “that’s not fair” listen darling life isn’t fair, I used to believe everything happened for a reason but it’s clearly all getting out of control that quote every time I see or hear it I just disregard it honestly because, being murdered, raped, kidnapped isn’t an “everything happens for a reason” type situation.

The only people that can change the streets is us as a community, the government and the rest of the services included can try and enforce as much force and new tactics as they want but without us complying with them nothing will make a change for the better, it will certainly go downhill. The first week of May saw officers sprawled out across London, hunting for knives, doing stop and searches, searching cars, sweeping across back alleys, housing estates and parks within them searches officers hauled in 300 knives and made 393 arrests in 7 days. The only thing I found weird is they did all these checks on a certain race and that was the black race, I was watching a few videos and they would stop young and old people and conduct these searches, I didn’t find this fair at all because any race can attack and do indiscernible damage but on the other hand the black race I’ve noticed do the most damage on each other like I’ve said in my previous blogs the black lives matter movement didn’t last very long it disappeared within a few months, I hardly hear about it anymore anywhere, why on earth would you attack your own race we’ve been through enough together we’ve fought to get rights for 100’s of years and we finally got them, we’ve been through slavery, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela plus loads more recognisable people fought for us they got knocked several times but they never stopped in what they believed in, this violence needs to stop! Weapons don’t need to be carried, what is the point like really what the fuck is the point, why can’t it go back to the old times where people only had their bodies to fight with like fists, I’d rather be trained in karate and be able to stick up for myself rather than taking out a weapon and destroying several lives and your own in the process, once you’re inside your track record has begun, there might be a few occasions people come out and want to turn their life around, but let’s be totally honest no one would want to employ an ex-criminal it’s highly unlikely, yeah maybe you want to change but what would you expect to walk out and get the same treatment before this criminal lifestyle, some employers might give you the time of day but others will not flick an eyelid. Just keep in thought “if you do the crime you’ll certainly do the time”.

No matter what’s going on in your life shouldn’t result in a negative affect towards someone else’s, it’s the weirdest things that will result in something so big like a slight look could really jerk someone, how you act, who you hang around with, who your family are, all these factors strangely enough cause unwanted arguments that can later over time spew into a rather large disturbance.

The one spending cut the government has put a cut on is the youth service budget around 28 million pounds has been taking away over the last five years, at least 457 youth workers lost their jobs and over 36 youth centres have been shut down. That’s what I find abnormal the youth are more on the streets than anything I’m not saying everyone would’ve liked going to a social club but it would be a start for them at least, there are people at these centres that have probably been in the same position as you or know people in a similar situation they can help you and more importantly they’re an opening ear.

Words of my own

Within knife crimes on the streets it really needs to settle down now I know it won’t stop 100% because believe me that’s impossible, but really if you’re found in a possession of a knife you could face a sentence of 5 years it doesn’t matter if you don’t have the intention of using it but if it’s on your person then expect a sentence, self-protection is not an excuse to carry a weapon can we all just remember that there is no ‘safe’ place to stab someone if you do it in the heart the person could lose all their blood within one minute, if you stab in the leg or the arm you could puncture an artery and this results in another death over what you think is a minor cut. Knife crime can affect anyone not just people in gangs but innocent bystanders like I said before a normal person can get caught up in other people’s disputes they can really suffer because of this and face serious injuries or fatal casualties, if your friends are carrying and an argument occurs if a knife is pulled out to someone and that someone dies you’ll go down as well for it as it is now known as ‘joint enterprise’ by carrying any weapon yourself you’re more likely target for someone else as situations can get out of control rather quickly. Knives are the most common weapon used in killings of young people, if you have a criminal record please just take into consideration that you most probably won’t be able to travel anywhere, for example, America, they don’t want you or your criminal self in their country, neither do Canada or Australia, and because of your stupid decision you might not be accepted into college, university or even get a job.
Does no one think of the families? The families that grow up with their kids, cherish moments with them, laugh, cry, talk about adulthood, talk about them wanting children and so on and who knew that your child, your sister, brother, cousin, nephew, niece could be here today and within a blink of an eye be completely gone the next day, imagine having to grieve for someone by them being killed by a weapon rather than dying naturally. Imagine getting that knock on the door and the police stood in front of you saying “I’m sorry ….. has died” I can’t even imagine the feeling and I’ll never want to either. When I see someone carry a weapon I honestly just think you’re so weak a whole weapon really? Bitch use your hands God gave you arms and legs for a reason go to karate or kickboxing if you want to scuffle with someone do it but don’t go overboard and kill them, I’d rather get done for head butting someone rather than outright killing them.

Some of you lot have time and I mean TIME want to go through all of this for what? Really for what? You ruin your life other people’s lives, get yourself a record, once you have that record it’s there with you for life, like forever and ever and a day, no getting rid of it, no wonder the older generation call the younger generation dumb because we think we know it all, when we don’t well actually some of us do, but you lot who carry weapons know nothing you’re all stupid.

No weapons equals better lives, I’ve heard so many songs where people rap or sing about someone that’s died, I’ve seen so many ‘ go fund me’ pages where people have died young, even though I say life is not fair, this isn’t fair these people are not choosing to die, you’re deciding for them.

Can you just stop and think about you’re doing for one minute, what do you want out of life? This isn’t GTA for you to be running around reckless killing each other, this is real life this isn’t a game, if that’s what you want to do turn on your gaming console and do that in your virtual life not in the real world, in this world there are consequences unlike GTA you get chased around by the cops for a few seconds and get away or they shoot you, you die and magically respawn like ten seconds later, like I said this is real life once you’re dead you’re dead, there’s no such thing as respawning, and really you can’t run away from the police because how they conduct searches here and find out evidence is quick, so you can run now but you can’t and won’t hide forever.

Now time for me, to be honest, I actually have no idea how much sense this blog has made as I wrote like one new paragraph per week, I started this blog like a month ago maybe more than that and I had it all in my head what I wanted to write and when it came down to typing it, I magically got memory loss, I’ve realised the title has lost its meaning as this was a ‘real crisis’ like a 2 months ago it still kinda is but we’re now looking at terrorist attacks but that’s a story for another day.

Thank you to everyone that has supported me from the beginning it hasn’t gone unnoticed as I see all your comments that you write to me even though most times I don’t reply I’m very overwhelmed and thankful for how far it has come, I’m going to start a new segment very soon which will be unpopular opinions and trust me I have a lot of those, so keep reading and don’t forget to tell a friend to tell a friend about me.

I’m out for now
